Imorphics delivers advanced image analysis technology for the analysis and interpretation of 3D medical images to support innovation within leading medical device and pharmaceutical companies. The varied application of Imorphics revolutionary technology have resulted in a proven track record of delivering high quality medical device software components, and excellent clinical trials support services for a global footprint of customers.
Imorphics was founded in 2002 to commercialize a set of revolutionary 3D statistical shape modelling technologies that had been developed at the University of Manchester in the 1990s. With a core R&D team of exceptional scientists and software engineers, Imorphics took on development of the technology and by 2005 it was being deployed in large-scale pharmaceutical clinical trials for the study of osteoarthritis.
Our work in clinical trials soon earned the attention of the orthopaedics and image-guided surgical industries and led to the company’s expansion in high quality solutions for population analysis, prosthesis design, 3D image-guidance for neuro- and orthopaedic surgery, auto-contouring for radiotherapy and also 3D planning for robotic surgery. More recently we have also supplied image analysis technologies for clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis.
The accurate and robust performance of Imorphics machine vision image analysis technology has allowed us to win all four of the prestigious MICCAI annual Grand Challenges that we have entered against leading commercial and academic groups. These competitions have further tested our technology on a variety of anatomical regions and imaging modalities: MR images of knee bone and cartilage (2010); Low resolution MR images of the prostate (2012); CT images of abdominal and thoracic organs (2014); and Head and neck images for radiotherapy (2015).
In 2015, we earned ISO13485 certification in order to support our medical device customers in efficiently delivering innovative new products to market using our software components. Along with ISO certification, we are also GCP compliant and offer our clinical trials customers the assurance of globally accepted Best Practice. Since being acquired by Stryker in 2016, our customers continue to look to us for the development of enabling high-quality image analysis technology and excellence in the provision of image analysis services for clinical trials.
“Since its inception, Imorphics has always challenged the traditional customized method of producing image analysis solutions. Our machine vision technology unlocks the true information potential of 3D medical images.”– Mike Bowes PhD, Clinical Applications Director.
