The first step in medical image analysis is to accurately identify the tissue or organ which is to be studied. Imorphics automatic segmentation, using automatic appearance modelling identifies tissues with sub-voxel accuracy.
Video to the right shows automatic segmentation of the human knee, with typical segmentation results. Accuracy studies have shown that this search has a mean accuracy of less than one voxel. The same methodology can be applied to a wide variety of tissues and has been used for almost all musculoskeletal tissues, as well as brain, kidney and prostate.
